MOSI DAY OF THUNDER: PROMOTING LOCAL TOURISM THROUGH MUSIC AND ARTS

LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Zambian Breweries Plc, and the Ministry of Tourism and Arts through the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA) have maintained the importance of strategic stakeholder partnerships in promoting the country’s tourism, arts, and cultural heritage.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 2nd Annual UN Tourism CAF-CAM Summit in Livingstone, the parties conveyed a renewed focus on how cultural events and festivals such as the Mosi Day of Thunder can drive tourism growth and economic development across the country. The music festival is a catalyst, boosting domestic and international arrivals to Zambia’s tourist capital, Livingstone – home to one of the world’s natural wonders and iconic Mosi-oa-Tunya Falls.
“Mosi Day of Thunder is more than a music festival. It is an economic and cultural engine that drives local business and introduces thousands of tourists to Zambia’s rich offerings. We are excited to see Zambian Breweries continue this tradition, and we stand ready to support this proudly Zambian event,” Minister of Tourism and Arts, Hon. Rodney Sikumba, said in an interview by Financial Insight Zambia.
Held annually, the Mosi Day of Thunder draws thousands of local and international fans, music lovers, and tourists, energising local businesses from hotels and guesthouses to vendors and tour operators. Every ticket sold includes entry into local tourist sites such as the Mosi-oa- Tunya Falls, ensuring that festival-goers experience Zambia’s breath-taking natural beauty alongside world-class local entertainment.
Zambian Breweries Legal and Corporate Affairs Director, Tawanda S. Hojane, reinforced the brand’s commitment to national pride and sustainable economic growth: “The Mosi Day of Thunder, anchored by our Mosi Premium Lager, creates proudly Zambian moments that celebrate our identity, culture, and heritage. It has become a ‘national property’, enriching communities, uplifting businesses, and offering a platform for Zambian talent to shine,” he said.
The partnership also supports the Zambia Tourism Agency’s “Take a Holiday YAMULOKO” campaign, which aims to stimulate domestic travel and position Zambia as a top-tier Southern African destination.
As Mosi Premium Lager celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, the 2025 edition of the Mosi Day of Thunder, set for 26th April in Livingstone, promises to be an even greater showcase of Zambian music, unity, and tourism potential, unleashing 50 years of Thunder.
“We invite all festivalgoers and international and local tourists to come and taste Mosi in its birthplace,” added Mr Hojane. “Come for the music, stay for the adventure, and leave with a story worth sharing.”
