MOSI DAY OF THUNDER MASHUPS TURN UP THE VOLUME

Zambian Breweries cheers local talent and fan-powered creativity with an all-new music experience
LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – The 8th edition of Zambia’s biggest music festival, Mosi Day of Thunder, is drawing closer and Zambian Breweries is turning up the volume on local artistes through its latest fan-driven music innovation, the Thunder Mashups. The initiative delighted fans who got the chance to shake up the festival’s lineup by pairing their favourite local artists for never-before-seen collaborations.
Eight of Zambia’s iconic musicians were shortlisted for this one-of-a-kind MashUp challenge. After weeks of fan voting, the top four pairings hit the studio in April to record brand-new collaborations, building anticipation for what promises to be an unforgettable showcase on the Mosi Day of Thunder stage.
The mashups feature Xaven and Towela Kaira with their fiery anthem PYE PYE, 76 Drums and Jae Cash with the hard-hitting WAR, Triple M and JC Kalinks delivering the catchy and vibrant NKATUMPA, and Vinchenzo alongside Chanda Na Kay bringing fans the soulful street banger CHALILA.
“Mosi Day of Thunder is an experience like no other, and this year will be nothing short of extraordinary. We’re bringing a layered celebration to the home of Mosi; one that’s rich with meaning,” said Zambian Breweries Acting Country Director, Nkanyiso Mncwabe.
“This year’s festival is extra special as it also marks a golden milestone; 50 years of Mosi Premium Lager. Inspired by the majestic Mosi-oa-Tunya Falls, Mosi has spent five decades enriching experiences, connecting people, celebrating culture, and creating proudly Zambian moments,” announced Mr Mncwabe.
Zambia’s biggest music festival has evolved into a full-fledged weekend experience as the tourist capital of Livingstone comes alive with activity and the influx of festival goers from across Zambia and beyond its borders celebrating the iconic Mosi Premium Lager.
“Mosi Day of Thunder continues to give a stage to the amazing talent we have here in Zambia. We are kicking things off on Friday with a lively Bar Crawl in the heart of Livingstone to warm up the city. On Saturday, the main event takes centre stage, and for the first time ever, we’re introducing a second stage: Mosi ‘Light Up Zone’, dedicated to an all-DJ lineup for fans looking for a different vibe. And to close the weekend, Sunday brings a mellow and scenic Sunset Session; the perfect way to wind down after two days of pure energy,” relayed Zambian Breweries Head of Marketing, Susan Luneta.
For 20 lucky fans, this year, Zambian Breweries is this year offering the ultimate VIP experience: an all-expenses-paid trip to Livingstone. Winners will enjoy the full adventure, from the majestic Mosi-oa-Tunya Falls to the pulsating rhythms of the festival, and of course, the crisp taste of Mosi Premium Lager.
Speaking on the growing partnership between Zambian Breweries and Zambia’s creative scene, Zambia Association of Musicians President, Brian Bwembya applauded the brewery for its commitment to supporting homegrown talent: “We celebrate Zambian Breweries for entertaining the nation and contributing to the economy, but most importantly for recognising the power of art. There is power in collaboration, and through initiatives like Thunder Mashups, we want to instil the mindset that Zambian music is not small — and that Zambia is not small. I would like to appreciate Zambian Breweries for standing with Zambian musicians.”
“Being part of the Thunder Mashups has been amazing. It is not every day that artistes get the freedom to experiment and blend different styles on such a big stage. Big shoutout to Zambian Breweries for believing in our creativity and giving us this platform to push the boundaries of Zambian music,” said 76 Drums enthusiastically.
As with previous years Zambian Breweries will be working with the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) and Zambia Police (ZP) to ensure the safety of festival goers during the celebrations, as well as with other partners such as the Ministry of Tourism, the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA), the National Heritage Conservation Council (NHCC) to highlight Zambia’s beautiful natural heritage to the visitors and festival patrons during this time.
Other stakeholders such as Coca-Cola, Robertsons Spices and Yango have also come onboard as sponsors, adding yet another layer of flavour and experience to the festival.
As Zambia gets ready to thunder once again, the stage is set for an unforgettable weekend of music, culture, community, and celebration with a firm toast to 50 years of Mosi Premium Lager and many more to come.
