MORE RETAILERS EMPOWERED THROUGH ZAMBIAN BREWERIES PROGRAMME
Brewing giant aims to train 500 retailers in business and retailing in 2024
LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Zambian Breweries continues to invest in empowering its retail partners through its Retailer Development Programme, GRIT (Growing Retailers Innovatively Together).
The course on retail management has this month trained a third cohort of 130 retailers. During the two-day event, participants received training in stock management, sales management, marketing strategies, profit and loss analysis, pricing, beer mastery, and responsible selling.
Zambian Breweries Legal and Corporate Affairs Director Tawanda Hojane highlighted the company’s commitment to fostering growth among its retail partners stating that: “Our goal is to train 500 retailers through the GRIT programme in 2024. This initiative is part of our broader mission to give back to the community by empowering our retailers with the skills they need to run sustainable businesses and scale their operations,” he said.
Through this initiative, the beer manufacturer aims to empower business owners with the skills to effectively manage and grow their businesses as well as the responsible sale and consumption of alcohol. Participants had the opportunity to win branded items, adding an element of excitement to the learning experience.
Retailer Mishek Muyumbwe said the training had taught him effective stock management and how to diversify his investments to increase his income.
He pointed out the overarching need for business owners to collectively tackle the sale of illicit alcohol due to its negative impact on society.
“I think this is a very good initiative that should be continued,” said another bar owner, Faith Zodwa Manda.
Zambian Breweries is committed to supporting the local business community, recognising that the success of the retailers directly contributes to the broader economic development of Zambia. Through programmes like GRIT, the company continues to demonstrate its dedication to building a stronger, more resilient local retail sector.
