ZAMBIAN BREWERIES FLAGS OFF THE 2024 CARLING BLACK LABEL CHARITY SHIELD
LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Zambian Breweries, is set to revamp this year’s highly anticipated Carling Black Label Charity Shield Game, scheduled to take place on August 10, 2024, at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. The brewer has extended a sponsorship package totalling K281,000 towards the match, with an additional K200,000 in prize money, and sports kits valued at K125,000.
As part of its ongoing commitment to Zambian football, the brewer also announced its sponsorship of the Zambia Premier League for the 2024–25 season with a significant investment of K3,37million.
Officiating the event, Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu commended the brewer, for its ongoing support of the event and promotion of sport in the country stating that: “Government is very much interested in corporate partners who are complementing our efforts in promoting sport, as it was a way of alleviating poverty levels in the country and creating jobs for our people. This government is always happy to find partners like Zambian Breweries.”
This year will see the winners of the Zambia Premier League, Red Arrows, and the runners-up in the ABSA Cup, Kabwe Warriors play it out on the field for the Charity Shield Cup.
Adding to the excitement and marking the first time the women’s teams are taking part in the Charity Shield games, the winners of the Women’s Super League, Green Buffaloes will face off the winners of the Women’s National Division One Choma Warriors.
Zambian Breweries Country Head of Marketing Thelma Kaonga stated that the sponsorship underscores the brewer’s dedication to the development of football in Zambia:

She saidadded that football fans can look forward to a thrilling and diverse matchday experience, enjoying both the rising talent in women’s football and the high-energy atmosphere of the main events, and that the new format promises to deliver an exciting blend of entertainment, showcasing skillful plays and fostering a supportive community for all players.
“We believe in the potential of women’s football and are excited to witness its growth and development,” she said.
As in the preceding year, Carling Black Label consumers and football fans will have the opportunity to change the game by choosing the starting 11 players of their favourite team at the Charity Shield Game.
