Honouring Years of Zambia’s Most Delightful Cadbury Moments

Lusaka, Zambia, July 12 2024 – This July marks a monumental milestone in the world of confectionery as Cadbury celebrates 200 years of generosity and indulgent treats for chocolate lovers in Zambia and around the globe. Founded in 1824 by John Cadbury, the iconic brand has become synonymous with quality, innovation, generosity, and indulgence.
To celebrate its bicentennial journey, Cadbury has kicked off a campaign dubbed “Yours for Generations,” calling on Zambians to share their most cherished #CadburyMemories. From nostalgic tales of enjoying Cadbury Dairy Milk with your mum when you passed exams to sharing a bag of Whispers at the movies, the initiative captures what Cadbury represents in Zambian culture.
Speaking during the launch of the campaign, Motsamai Pule, Mondelez International Marketing Lead for Rest of Africa (ROA), said: “For over three decades, Cadbury has become more than just a chocolate brand in Zambia; it has woven itself into the fabric of our society. This journey has been marked by moments of generosity, strengthening familial bonds, and countless cherished memories.” He added: “We’re thrilled to have been able to celebrate this milestone by weaving the fondest Cadbury stories into the rich Zambian heritage.”
During the media launch held at Radisson Blu, Lusaka, guests were taken through The Cadbury Gallery Exhibition – a showcase of treasured Cadbury-related memories dating back to 1824. The showcase included interactive stations, giving guests the opportunity to create new memories while enjoying the celebration of chocolate. In addition to the showcase, two well-known social media influencers – Cheelo Mwanachingwala and Tisa Mulima – took the audience through some of their most cherished childhood memories. As part of the #CadburyMemories celebration campaign, these two influencers will continue to share their most nostalgic life moments on their platforms.
The Cadbury “Yours for Generations” campaign invites Zambians to visit the Cadbury Africa website and share their fondest Cadbury memories through text, voice notes, images, or videos. Cadbury will showcase some of these memories on its website and social media platforms as a nostalgic montage.
To commemorate this milestone, Cadbury has brought back eight limited-edition vintage packs of their most loved Cadbury Dairy Milk, now available in stores across Zambia. These nostalgic packs showcase some of the most iconic Cadbury Dairy Milk designs from years gone by, allowing local chocolate lovers to take a trip down memory lane with every purchase. Each vintage design represents a different era in Cadbury’s history, from the classic purple and gold wrappers of the 1960s to the bold redesign of the 1980s that symbolized “A Glass and a Half.” These limited-edition packs are not only collector’s items for Cadbury enthusiasts but also reminders of the brand’s enduring presence in the lives of Zambians.
