ZB PROMOTES ROAD SAFETY
Zambian Breweries Plc teams up RTSA, Zambia Police and Coca Cola to encourage responsible behaviour
LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Following the highly successful Oktoberfest, all roads will be leading to Livingstone for the highly anticipated fifth edition of the Mosi Day of Thunder this weekend.
And Zambian Breweries has partnered with the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA), Zambia Police Service and Coca Cola Beverages Zambia (CCBZ) to promote road safety and responsible drinking ahead of the event.
The Zambian Breweries sponsored event is an annual event that drives local tourism, drawing thousands of people from far flung places of the country and beyond. . The company’s Corporate Affairs Director Ezekiel Sekele shared that the brewer places high importance on the safety and wellbeing of consumers and takes the first step in encouraging responsible drinking of alcohol and observance of road safety rules as they travel to the event.
“We want every experience that our consumer has with our brand to be a positive and lasting one. We take our responsibility as the nation’s largest brewer very seriously and that is why we are working with our partners (RTSA, ZP, Coca Cola) to spread the message of responsible consumption as we head towards the Mosi Day of Thunder over the long weekend.” he said.
Zambian Breweries as an alcohol producer shares the concern of government on the ills that alcohol abuse brings to society and joins in calling for consumers to consume responsibly.
Coca Cola Beverages Zambia Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Froncine H. Chisanga reiterated that staying hydrated was an important aspect of life and encouraged revellers to be responsible
She explained: “In line with the Aquasavana mantra of living life to the fullest, staying hydrated remains an important aspect of life, and good safe water is essential for life. We’re coming in as partners for bottled water and urge consumers to celebrate responsibly and stay hydrated throughout the festival.”
Speaking at the same event, the Road Safety and Traffic Agency (RTSA) Acting Public Relations Manager Roy Habaalu noted that it was imperative for those travelling to the Music festival to not throw caution to the wind and observe road rules.
“As the RTSA we appreciate the fact that the challenges of road safety call for concerted multisectorial efforts among stakeholders. It is for this reason that we are proud to partner with Zambian Breweries and the Zambia Police service in the buildup to this event to carry out road safety education and traffic law enforcement to ensure that it is accident free”.
Meanwhile Deputy Zambia Police Service spokesperson Danny Mwale emphasised that the long arm of the law would catch up with those found abrogating the laws, especially those concerning drinking and driving.
“Our objective among others is that of protecting life and property. As we build up towards the Mosi Day of Thunder, it is important that we work together to ensure everyone’s wellbeing.’
The brewer’s flagship event promises to be an exciting celebration of the Zambian culture with the music festival’s concept derived from the iconic Mosi Premium Lager’s proposition of bringing Zambians together through music, arts at the home of the mighty Mosi-oa-Tunya falls where Mosi gets its name from.
The road to the Mosi Day of Thunder kicked off with R&G Oktoberfest, in Lusaka, before heading down to Livingstone on October 22, a good start to the long Independence weekend.
