PROFLIGHT ZAMBIA RELAUNCHES NDOLA-MANSA ROUTE
The airline’s new route is part of its expansion plan to avail more travel options to domestic customers
LUSAKA, ZAMBIA – Proflight Zambia is connecting travellers from the Copperbelt to northern Zambia with the relaunching of direct flights from Ndola to Mansa with connections to and from Lusaka.
The airline recognises the importance of smaller provincial routes and is happy to be expanding to better service the domestic network. The airline previously operated the Ndola-Mansa route from 2010 to 2015.
Proflight has received approval for the new route, which it will introduce in a bid to boost tourism in the northern circuit. Captain Walubita noted that opening the route would facilitate tourism and trade, and help reignite economies still reeling from the effects of COVID-19.
“With Samfya flourishing as a domestic tourism destination, we are confident that this route will stimulate the growth of domestic tourism in Zambia. We remain committed to providing air transport connectivity to all the ten provinces of Zambia. Air transport has a positive effect on Zambia’s economy and the travel and tourism industry. We are excited to provide the much-needed connectivity to the people of Luapula province. We are confident the re-introduction of this route will greatly benefit the people of Luapula and stimulate the growth of trade and industry”, said Proflight Zambia Director Flight Operations Captain Josias Walubita.
From March 15, Proflight will launch direct flights every Tuesday and Thursday. The route will be relaunched using the British Aerospace Jetstream aircraft. These aircraft are twin-turboprops with a pressurised fuselage. The British Aerospace Jetstream aircraft are the ideal aircraft for this type of route offering speed, comfort and reliability.
“In the last few months at Proflight, we carried out an elaborate safety and quality process to meet the requirements of the Civil aviation regulations and internal company policy. I am elated by this development as finally our painstaking work and plans have come to fruition,” Captain Walubita stressed.
The airline also has plans to commence schedule operations to Kasama and/or Mbala in Q2 2022 and is also looking at Mongu.
